In today’s tough economic times, telephone scammers are trying harder than ever to separate you from your hard-earned money. A recent newspaper article described how rip-off artists are calling people and claiming that their auto insurance is about to expire, even though it’s not.

The scammer then demands credit card or other banking information in order for the policyholders to keep their coverage in force. Of course, these scammers do not represent any insurance company, and are just trying to rip-off unsuspecting policyholders.

The AARP Auto Insurance Program from The Hartford will never call you asking for such information. All communications regarding your policy’s renewal are mailed to you well in advance of your renewal date, as required by law.
